LABYRINTH - FINAL, RULES

Filed under: LABYRINTH - Administrator @ 5:09 am

Dear Labyrinth hunters,

Congratulations for making it to the last and final round of “Treasure hunting”. We promise to make the final round even more exciting and adventurous. Please note the rules of this rapid fire round:

1. This round will run for two hours from 9:00pm to 11:00pm.
2. This stage will comprise of five “rapid-fire” hunts and a “Treasure Trove”.
3. The hunts will start one after the other at an interval of 15 minutes. The first hunt starts at 9:00pm, second one at 9:15pm and so on. The last hunt will start at 10:15pm.
3. Clue for “Treasure Trove” will be released along with the first “rapid-fire” hunt i.e. at 9:00pm
4. The first five “rapid-fire” hunts will have a common theme, which will help answer the last called the “Treasure Trove”.
5. Each correct answer to the “rapid-fire” hunts will earn 50 points
6. The “Treasure Trove” hunt will be worth 50 points; an additional bonus equal to minutes remaining till 11pm will be awarded for solving the treasure trove. Therefore the sooner you crack the “Treasure Trove” the more points you will gain.
7. The maximum points any team can score is 480 (10 points for each of the 6 trivia preceding the hunts, 50 points each for the six hunts and a maximum of 120 bonus points for the “Treasure Trove”)
8. The game ends at 11pm and all hunts will close down at this time. You can resubmit your answers for any clue till 11:00 PM, however the final timestamp of submission will be taken to evaluate the time taken for submission.
9. The team with maximum overall points in this round for all hunts wins the game. In case of a tie, the overall time taken for stage 3 starting 9pm will be used as tie-breaker.
10. Some clues might have flash content. Please ensure your system supports flash software. You can try running few applications to ensure that flash enabled web pages are able to run on your computer. Please do not refresh flash pages again, as this will reset your page and you have to start from scratch.

POSEIDON: PROGRESS SO FAR…

Filed under: POSEIDON - Administrator @ 7:29 pm

Hot news: Around 350 teams have registered for LABYRINTH - ONLINE TREASURE HUNT.

Lot of progress has been made towards Poseidon. The marketing efforts of the event coordinators and the quality of the events is evident from the overwhelming response. Some of the events have attracted 100+ participants so far!

LABYRINTH: 350!
KRYPTOS: 155!
SYMPOSIUM: 120
EUREQA: 120

Other top events in terms of number of participants:

NEGOTIATUS: 80

LABYRINTH organizers have seen some amazingly quick responses for their supposedly tough clues [< 30 minutes]. So they have increased the difficulty level of the clues. Now only very few teams are able to crack the clue quicker. Many are unable to crack the clue! From what I have heard, an intense war is being fought...Keep watching this space.

In the mean time, shortlists have been announced for various events.

TEMPEST - SHORTLIST
SYMPOSIUM - SHORTLIST [6 teams from 120!]
PEGASUS - SHORTLIST
DRACHMA - SHORTLIST

There’s more. The ‘Fashion Show - ELYSIUM’ will be a star attraction (& sheer fun) in POSEIDON - 2005. We are receiving new registrations daily. Since ISB is also participating in this event, shortlisting of ‘hot’ guys and gals is going on…

Music Competition @ POSEIDON-2005!

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 5:54 pm

Due to unavoidable circumstances, the “Rock show” is dropped from our agenda. Now we have a “Music Competition” event in place of the Rock Show.

“…Sing, sing a song
Sing out loud
Sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
Sing of happy not sad.
Sing, sing a song

Is the musician in you raring to come out? Have you been waiting for an opportunity to let your creative juices flow?
The wait is over. The Music Club @ ISB gives you this unique chance to set the stage on fire with your institution’s band….”

LΛBΨRINTH Launched…

Filed under: LABYRINTH - Administrator @ 1:01 pm

The Business Technology Club is happy to announce the launch of a unique online Treasure hunt event - “LΛBΨRINTH”.

It’s a unique online treasure hunt that will engage participating teams from across the globe. Clues will be cryptic technology related hints posted on the Poseidon website that will require teams to think and research. Participating teams will have to register and will be given daily clues on the website over a period of a two weeks before Poseidon. It would be required to solve each stage to proceed to the next level…

Labyrinth is a multi-stage, multi-clue event. The detailed description of the event can be viewed here:

http://www.isb.edu/poseidon/info/labyrinth.asp

Last week, we conducted a simulation of Labyrinth (of course with easy set of questions!) to identify any bugs, hack-possibilities, load bearing etc., We managed to uncover many bugs and ultimately fixed it. Now the event website is quite stable and secure. Going by the amount of preparation done by the Labyrinth organizers, the treasure hunt will HIGHLY challenge our grey cells…

SYMPΘSIUM & KRΨPTΘS Launched…

Filed under: KRYPTOS, SYMPOSIUM - Administrator @ 12:41 pm

Dear everyone…

We are happy to announce the Marketing Club events in Poseidon 2005. Please find attached the event descriptions for the same.

SYMPΘSIUM

Are you creative with an analytical mind? Do you enjoy problem solving? Can you step into the shoes of a marketing manager and decide how to battle it out in the marketplace. If so, you are invited to participate in Symposium, the annual marketing case competition at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. Teams will be given a marketing problem to solve - it may be a company which needs help in launching a product, a product which is threatened by cheap imports, or a company which has international connections but hasn’t reached its full global potential.

www.isb.edu/poseidon/info/symposium.asp

KRΨPTΘS

“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean-neither more nor less.’

`The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.”

“The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master-that’s all.”

(Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass)

Can you really see through what advertisers and marketers are trying to do? Can you understand the underlying thought process for a piece of communication? It is our belief that a marketing manager should have skills in analyzing communication. Kryptos, a marketing club event, will test your knowledge of marketing and your skills in analyzing communication.
